“Because you never lose that - that fun, that passion to compete and live a dream” – Tiger Woods

When it comes to class, flair and elegance, nothing captures more skill than the game of Golf, invented most probably by the Scots. Evidence has shown that Golf was played on Musselburgh Links in 1672 although Mary, Queen of Scots reputedly played there in 1567.

The origin of the game of Golf has never been clearly established. The Romans during the reign of Caesar played a game resembling Golf by striking a feather-stuffed ball with club-shaped branches. Book illustrations show the Dutch playing a similar game on their frozen canals about the 15th century. Cross-country variations were popular in France and Belgium.

Golf is an integral part of Scottish life and leisure even though this sport is incredibly popular in the Americas, Asia and other European countries. In fact according to the survey done by Golf Digest, there were nearly 32,000 golf courses in the world. You can get lucky to putt around in the magnificent Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, Scotland, which is also famed as the "Home of Golf".

In modern times Golf courses serves as meeting points of the business class, and history proves that some of the best business deals are done in the putting greens across the globe. Golf is highly endorsed or patronised by the elite and rich class and that’s the prime reason behind the huge number of Golf courses in countries like Scotland, New Zealand, Australia, Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Canada, Wales, United States, Sweden, England, Japan and other Western European countries. These countries have also produced top-class players on a regular basis.

The major Golf championships are the four most prestigious men's tournaments of the year and they are the Masters, U.S. Open, the Open Championship (referred to in North America as the British Open), and PGA Championship. Women's Golf does not have a globally agreed set of majors. The list of majors recognised by the dominant women's tour, the LPGA Tour in the U.S. are Kraft Nabisco Championship, U.S. Women's Open, LPGA Championship and Women's British Open.

Most of the Golf courses around the world  feature challenging fairways that present players with distinctive curves and gentle hills, all framed by colourful vegetation and eye-soothing scenery. Imagine travelling to exotic places like Cancun in Mexico and enjoying a little bit of Golf amid immaculate natural setting.

Golfing Vacations as they say are the best de-stress therapy for people from all walks of life. Whether you are inclined towards a rush of adrenaline or a laidback retreat in the lap of nature, you are sure to forget your worries and spend quality time with your family and friends. Living a life of luxury and glamour is all about enjoying the more exotic things in life.
